Arranging Flowers, Part 1

If you’ve just picked some beautiful flowers from your landscape in Las Vegas, you may wonder how best to arrange them in your home. If you have beautiful flowers, you want them to look as beautiful as possible in your home. If you wish to display them, you will want have them looking crisp, clean, and fresh for as long as possible. Read on to find out tips on how to best arrange flowers in your home.

Water Really Works

Put flowers in water as soon as you get them home. Fill buckets with tepid water, add floral preservative, and then add the flowers. You will notice your flowers will be as beautiful as possible for a long time. You will love the way they look. Flowers need water more than anything, so getting them in there as quickly as possible will ensure a long, beautiful life for your flowers.

Cutting the Stems

Cut an inch off the stems using a sharp knife, especially if the flowers will sit a while before they are arranged. The fresh cut will help the flowers absorb water more fully. Just be sure not to cut the stems too short, or the flowers may not last as long. As well, if they are too short, they will not look as good in an arrangement.

Using the Proper Temperature

Warm water helps tightly closed flower heads to open fully. This is true of ranunculus or roses. Leave your flowers in water for a day or two before you use them. This will make them be as beautiful as possible, as soon as possible!

Foam

Florist’s foam will help keep flowers in place, and will also help them be constantly hydrated so they last longer than average flowers. Soak the foam for 15 minutes before cutting it to fit in the container. Water the foam every couple of days. If you do this, your flowers will live a longer and fuller life, and will beautify your home for much longer than they would without foam. This is a great tip.

Trim and Trim Again

Recut stems just before adding them to the arrangement, even if you have cut them previously. Strip off any leaves that fall below the waterline. If you have a beautiful, clear vase, you will want to ensure that you don’t have flowers that are wilting inside the vase. Make sure the flowers and stems look beautiful and clean inside, too.

Following each of these tips will help ensure that you have the most beautiful flower arrangement possible. If you have beautiful flowers in your landscape and are just about to pull them up because of a change in seasons, this is a great way to preserve your flowers for a little longer until you cannot do so anymore. Having a lovely flower arrangement in your home will beautify it instantly and give you a little piece of nature in your home. For more tips, contact a Las Vegas landscaper.
